The Accademia Musicale Pescarese, under the aegis of the Region of Abruzzo, with the sponsorship of the city of Pescara, announces the Third International Competition of Computer Music, dedicated to the figure of Pierre Schaeffer, the composer and teacher who was a determining influence on the evolution of contemporary musical thought.
The competition, (held every two years) aims to promote compositional activity in the specific branch of computer music, creating at the same time a meeting place in the complex and multi-faceted world of computer music.
Toward this end the utmost diffusion will be given to the winning works, across both CD audio support and public performances.
REGULATIONS
1. The competition, with no age limits, is divided into two categories:
- category a) - solo tape
- category b) - tape and instrument/s
2. No more than one piece may be presented in each category (for a maximum of two pieces).
3. Maximum duration of each piece: 10 minutes.
4. The works will have to be send to the Accademia within the date indicated at point 6) and must be accompanied by the following material:
a) application form together with application fee of € 30,00 (free of bank charges) to be paid by postal order or transfer bank – SWIFT BNLI IT RA PEX – current account no. 0000000000000000000000858 – in the name of Accademia Musicale Pescarese (application unprovided with the registration fee will not be accepted) – Via dei Peligni, 152 – 65127 Pescara (Italy)
- the competitors name and address
- the title of the composition
- the duration of the composition
- the chosen category
b) a brief curriculum vitae
c) one (small) format photograph
d) a short description of the piece/s
- category a)
- category b)
- a recording of the complete piece on audio CD
- a recording of only the solo electronic part on the same CD, with ID identification on the box
- a complete copy of the score in A4 format
e) the title of the composition and its duration must be indicated on the container, together with any other useful indication.
5. Three prizes and a special mention will be awarded for each category.
The winning works will be recorded on a not commercial CD audio.
One concert in the Accademia concert season will be dedicated to the winning compositions.
Each prize winner will be given 10 complimentary copies of the CD and the relative Diploma.
A special diploma will be given to the finalists too.
6. Deadline for the presentation of the works: 30 November 2007 (the postmark will certify the date).
7. The works, with all the documentation at point 4), will have to be sent to Accademia Musicale Pescarese - 6th International Competition of Computer Music Composition “Pierre Schaeffer” – Via dei Peligni, 152 – 65127 Pescara (Italy).
8. None of the material sent will be returned; it will be catalogued and integrated in the Accademia Musicale Pescarese tape-CD library, which reserves the right to make use of it for public or didactic auditions, in it’s own seat or elsewhere.
9. The jury will be made up of eminent composers and figure from the world of computer music. An Italian jury will select the upcoming works; an international jury will attribute the awards among the selected works.
10. The jury reserves the right to attribute the prizes only partially or not at all, if the requisites are not present, the first prize for each category will not be awarded ex-aequo.
11. The competition will be concluded within January 2008.
12. In case of claims, the official regulations are those written in Italian.
